The Reason

I’m not a perfect person There’s many thing I wish I didn’t do But I continue learning I never meant to do those things to you And so I have to say before I go That I just want you to know I’ve found a reason for me To change who I used to be A reason to start over new And the reason is you   I’m sorry that I hurt you It’s something I must live with everyday And all the pain I put you through I wish I could take it all away And be the one who catches all your tears That’s why I need you to hear   I’ve found a reason for me To change who I used to be A reason to start over new And the reason is you   This is a beautiful song called THE REASON sung by an American band called Hoobastank back in 2004. They are called a one hit wonder because this song of theirs went on to become the No.2 song on the Billboard Hot 100 at the time after which they disappeared. This is one of my most favourite songs of all time and I make it a point to put it in my pen drive whenever I make a…

Child’s Play

“Daddy, daddy, there’s a monster in your bed room” the little one screamed. He looked up from his work nonchalantly and said “There are no such things as monsters. Now go and play. I’m busy.” The 5-year-old walked off without saying a word though disappointment was written all over her face. He continued with his work but she appeared again in a while and said- “Daddy there’s a monster in your room. I’m scared!” He was angry now. “There are no such things as monsters, do you understand me?”  he said harshly And just to prove a point, he dragged…

Pattern of Life

Life is all about symmetry, a set pattern. Our houses need to have the perfect symmetry. The clothes that we wear need to have a certain pattern. Our cars must have that evenness about them. We don’t realise it but we even judge the looks of others based on symmetry. Randomness is a source of chaos and nobody wants disorder. Our lives follow a definite pattern. I call it the pattern of life. Birth – Education – Career – Marriage – Kids – Death.  Study and complete your graduation/post-graduation or else you will be unemployed we are often reminded. Choose…

A Time To Break

We all need a break at some point or the other. Work is work. It doesn’t matter if your job is hectic or a relaxed one, a break from the routine rejuvenates both the mind and body and we all crave for it at some point or the other. Being a doctor is a thankless job. No, I’m not complaining because at some point we’ve all accepted this bitter truth but I have been working 14 to 16 hours per day for the last 6 months and sometimes even more. Work is indeed worship though I never wanted it to…

Voices In My Head

As I was being wheeled out of the emergency room, my mind was overflowing with a number of thoughts. I had just been delivered the news that I had a fracture and a couple ligament tears in my left ankle. What led to it was nothing but a freak accident. Having been told that I would require at least 6 weeks rest didn’t go too well with me. “Why didn’t I look down before I took that step backwards?” “Why did this have to happen to me?” “Who cursed me so much?”…… The mind was abuzz with questions. Questions which…

Independence Day Message

INDEPENDENCE DAY means different things to different people. The truth is that these days it means everything other than what it actually is! While for some it may mean a holiday to sleep & laze around the entire day, for others it means a movie day where in they get to catch up on movies that they missed out during the month. These days Independence Day has got a new meaning with various shopping sites giving discounts to bring in customers. Some attend the flag hoisting ceremonies at their schools, work places while others make it a tradition to watch…

The Stairway To The Room

Well……. I clicked this picture for no apparent reason but when I saw  it for the first time what came to my mind were two very famous songs –‘Stairway to Heaven’ & ‘The Room At The Top Of The Stairs’. One is an all time favorite & the other is MY favorite. The stairs in the picture lead to my room. At the end of these stairs is neither heaven nor the room where all the “stuff” that happens in the song so its actually as useless as the picture. And if you want to get philosophical about it then…

What is your state of mind today?

I woke up this morning feeling utterly miserable. Frankly speaking I don’t even know why. It all starts with some small issue that gets to you & before you even know it you feel that the whole world is against you. Some call it “being moody.” To some around you it may seem to be arrogance. Sometimes I wonder whether its just me or do even others have similar ups & downs in their minds. These are the days where anything & everything seems to irritate you for no apparent reason. And its during those “moody” days where one loathes…

Shane Warne Adds to Another Cricket Controversy

Cricket they say is a gentlemans game but somehow that’s hard to digest. Because for as long as I can remember its never been a gentlemans game. Chess for example is a gentlemans game. That’s not to say that cricket is a slug fest involving monkeys, its good at best of times but definitely not Always The latest controversy involving Shane Warne has again brought into the light the debate as to where the line has to be drawn between being aggressive & crossing the limits. The incident that Im referring to happened in the KFC Big Bash league, Australia’s…

Everything That Is Wrong With Indian Cricket!

Before the start of the India England test series everyone had been bemoaning the fact that India had lost 8 test matches in a row against Australia & England in “away” conditions. Almost all the players especially the batsmen had received flak except for perhaps Virat Kohli. “They cant play swing, they cant adjust to pace, they don’t know how to hold the bat…..” Our bowlers too especially the pace bowlers who were expected to do well in helpful conditions were found wanting. Everything from ‘Too much 20 – 20’ to ‘too many advertisements’  had been quoted as the reason…
